A Time for Cool Heads

We are heading towards go live of a major project and as usual there is a rise in the stress levels as the team senses this is no longer going to be a solution to talk about, build and test. Around this time the Project Manager has to be conscious of the mood of the team and take measures to keep them focused and cool under pressure – some ideas include

1) Remind the project team of the objectives i.e. why are we doing this – often gets forgotten about during the hectic build and test

2) Remind the team of all the hard work they have done to get to this point

3) Remind the team of how much they know about the solution and all the testing they have done to build that knowledge

4) Smile and keep a sense of humor đŸ™‚ – hopefully an English sense of humor

Any other tips ?

About chriscashell

I have been working in IT for most industries during my career and delivering change through solutions combining process re-engineering and software systems. This has involved taking a disparate group of people to form project teams and setting out on a mission to change the business and drive it forward to meet compelling goals. Building and being part of a successful team is a great experience and seeing organizations and individuals embrace change is a rewarding experience. I want to share my insights into those experiences and thoughts and find out what others believe can make change fun and enjoyable.
