I was struck tonight as i prepare to start a couple of new projects what information I would want to gather to ensure i had a full picture of the work that has been done, is being done and has yet to be done to ensure a successful completion. Gathering the right information now and ensuring it is available can save time later . At the same time i started reading a new crime thriller where one of the detectives is assessing the evidence gathered to date to form connections between two crimes. They also remember advice given to them that asking the same question in different ways will ensure you have all the right information. I’m guessing you may know where I can going with this by now and as every crime is different so is every project.
So lots of questions gathering even the basic information i.e. project plans, requirements, other project documentation must be asked and all that reviewed to ensure there are no gaps in what is required. Missing pieces of information can leave you with an incomplete picture and mean delays later in the project (or solving the crime :))
Over the years i have developed questions and lists that at least act as starters in this process – anyone else have any insights, lists, observations or crime solving tools 🙂
he blog was how do i say it… relevant, finally something that helped me.
Thanks
